Contribute & Newsletter

We are always looking for content on the Secret Library Leeds blog – over the years we’ve featured students, early-career academics, published authors, independent researchers, local historians, family historians, artists, colleagues from other heritage organisations, representatives from the third-sector, volunteers, work experience placements, and more.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in being featured. Our only stipulation is that your article in some way relates to the stock and services of Leeds Libraries – this could be a unique item of stock, a collection of materials you’ve used in your research, or even simply that our resources can illustrate the theme of your writing (e.g. our Leodis photograph archive).

Take a look at guest posts we’ve previously featured to get a feel for what we normally publish. As a general guide though we usually say around 500-1000 words, together with some nice images (though we can provide those if you don’t have any), as well as an explanation of how your content fits into our stock, collections or services (if that’s not already explicit in the article).

Again, you can get in touch and chat to us if you want more information. Some previous guest posts have also led to further collaborations, including talks and workshops. Articles are promoted through our social media channels – including our dedicated newsletter.
