HERITAGE TOURS OF LEEDS CENTRAL LIBRARY

Join us for an entertaining trip behind the scenes of our magnificent Grade II* listed building in the historic heart of Leeds. Tours last approximately 1 hour and leave from the ground floor atrium, outside the Lending department.

LEEDS TAPESTRY TOUR
Friday 8 September, 12 noon.
Join us for a tour of the Leeds Tapestry, an iconic needlework display across 16 giant panels, celebrating the city’s history and culture. Learn about the beautiful, intricate needlework images and discover the fascinating stories behind their creation. Tours last 90 minutes and leave from the Art Library on the first floor.

Harehills Heritage Walks
The Local & Family History Library is supporting the research of PhD student Joanne Harrison, who is investigating back-to-back houses and their communities in 21st century Leeds. Over the Heritage Open Days weekend, Joanne will be leading tours of streets in Harehills.

WALKING TOUR OF BACK-TO-BACK HOUSES IN HAREHILLS
Saturday 9 September, 12.30–1.30pm and 3.30–4.30pm. Sunday 10 September, 12.30–1.30pm and 3.30–4.30pm.
This tour will guide you not just through the back-to-back streets of Harehills, but through the history of their development between 1891 and 1912, setting it in the context of late Victorian and early Edwardian social and sanitary reform and national legislation. Meet at the corner of Harehills Road and Lambton Grove, Leeds, LS8 5PB.
