What tells your story of Leeds?

We’re inviting people and communities to donate or loan items from their own lives and archives — photographs, documents, diaries, or keepsakes, anything that captures life in Leeds.

From everyday memories to moments of change, from across Leeds and across generations, these personal pieces help show how the city has been shaped by the people who live here.

Together, they’ll form part of an exhibition celebrating Leeds400.

Have something to share?* Email: localandfamilyhistory@leeds.gov.uk

*Quick bit of extra info: community contributions will be exhibited together in 1-2 display cabinets and there may not be space for each item to have it’s own label. Equally, we may not be able to use all contributions.
Dear Secret Library
Please would you be able to make sure that the Gypsy/Traveller communities are represented in your 400 years project. I used to work for the Gypsy, Traveller and Roma Service and many photos and communitity histories were borrowed from LEODIS. There was the Gypsy town in Armley, and the Gypsy child christianed in the Leeds Parish Church, in the 1300’s. Leeds GATE in Richmond Hill were given our services archives, so I’m sure they would love to share them with you. Thank you Sue
